Biography

Bernadette Roberts is a highly accomplished Production and Costume Designer with over 25 years’ experience working across television, film, theatre, opera, and live events in London, throughout the UK, and internationally. A trusted and versatile Head of Department, she has held Series Designer roles across drama, comedy, children’s drama, and long-running continuing drama. Bernadette has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed directors, including Paul Greengrass, Alrick Riley, Ewan Marshall, Paulette Randall, and Waris Islam. Her extensive HOD experience has enabled her to build and lead strong, reliable design teams, consistently delivering high-quality, visually distinctive work across complex productions. She has worked with numerous leading executive producers, among them Hilary Salmon, Frances Hopkinson, Kate Hall, Dieterick Santer, Oliver Kent, Angela Ferreira and Simon Harper. Recent highlights include Production and Costume Design on “Una Marson: Our Lost Caribbean Voice”, for the BBC by Douglas Road Productions. Bernadette was Series Designer on BBC One’s flagship continuing drama “EastEnders”, heading a large design department and working with multiple series directors from 2022 to 2025. Known for her excellent communication and organisational skills, Bernadette is highly regarded for her ability to foster productive, creative collaborations and the consistent delivery of successful outcomes.
