Biography

Gavin White is a Director of Photography based in Edinburgh. He works throughout the UK and Europe across commercials, promos and HETV and features. He is an active member of the BSC Club and currently part of the BSC Mentorship Program under the guiding eye of Ed Rutherford, BSC. Gavin had a brief stint as a camera assistant which made him realise that he was much better suited behind the camera. He started out shooting short form documentaries and then short branded online films. Having also played and toured in bands for many years, it was a natural progression to then start shooting promos and live music across the UK. From there came bigger commercial projects and the opportunities to operate on, and latterly lens, several feature films. He love working with directors who are passionate about changing the landscape of film, pushing the boundaries and all the while having fun with it. A project he is particularly proud of is a short film called “LEG OF A SALESMAN”, shot for director Ryan Williams. This dark comedy had a great festival run, culminating in 3 screenings at Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2025. In May this year he will be lensing a comedy-horror feature film “MIDGIES” with another longtime collaborator Alessio Avezzano. Financing for the film came off the back of a highly ambitious proof-of-concept trailer which received huge public attention.
