Biography

Sophie Daniel is a South-East London–based Costume Designer working across feature films, short films, and artist film projects. Trained in Fashion & Textiles, she developed a strong sensitivity to colour and fabrication that continues to inform her practice. Her work includes projects for Channel 4, BBC, ITV and the BFI. Her long-form work includes costume design for the upcoming indie feature “LIFEHACK” directed by Ronan Corrigan, which premiered at SXSW 2025 in the Narrative Spotlight category to critical acclaim and has since secured distribution ahead of its May 2026 release. Sophie’s short-form work features ongoing collaborations with artist and director Jerusha West, including “SOLIDAGO” (2021), for which she was shortlisted for Best Costume Design at BIFA and at the BFI Institute–backed Women X Film Festival 2024, and “STINGING NETTLES” (2026), premiering at the BAFTA and BIFA qualifying London Short Film Festival in January 2026. Recent shorts also include “RECALL ME MAYBE” (2025), commissioned by the Financial Times and directed by David Baddiel, featuring Stephen Fry. Sophie has further experience in Principal Standby roles, including standing in for Costume Designer Arielle Cooper-Lethem as Principal Standby to Lily Allen on the upcoming short film “MARIANNE-ARE YOU HAPPY?” (2026), and working as Principal Standby (Daily) assisting Costume Designer Katherine Burchill on the upcoming indie feature “MERRY CHRISTMAS AUBREY FLINT” (2026), featuring Richard E. Grant and Celia Imrie. Artist film collaborations include work on Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey’s video installation “UNDER UNDER IN”, exhibited at Tate Britain in 2019, and the upcoming short film “THE REHEARSAL” (2025) by BAFTA member and Jarman Award winner Grace Ndiritu.
